Donut Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg of flour 0000 (normal or all-purpose).
  • 2 eggs.
  • 400 ml of warm water.
  • 120 g of sugar.
  • 50 g fresh yeast (or 10 g dry yeast).
  • 50 g of margarine.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence.
  • Zest of 1 lemon.

Instructions:

  1. Dough preparation:

    • In a large bowl, mix the flour with the yeast.
    • Add the eggs, sugar, margarine, vanilla essence and lemon zest.
    • Add the warm water little by little while kneading the dough until it is smooth and homogeneous.
    • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  2. Formed donuts:

    • Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it is approximately 1 cm thick.
    • Using a round cutter, cut out circles of dough.
    • Make a hole in the center of each circle to form the donuts.
    • Place the donuts on a floured tray and let them rest again for about 30 minutes.
  3. Frying:

    • Heat plenty of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Fry the donuts in batches, turning so they brown evenly.
    • Remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  4. Coverage:

    • You can dust the donuts with powdered sugar or dip them in chocolate or vanilla glaze.
    • Ready! Serve your homemade donuts and enjoy.
